Digimelter is the revolutionary melting unit developed and patented by Danieli, consisting of a unique combination of power, intelligence, and environmentally friendly equipment to achieve 15,000 heats per year.
Minimal OpEx, lowest environmental impact, high flexibility for raw materials and negligible impact on the power grid are achieved by implementing Digimelter.
Q-One® power feeder
Digimelter is based on the Q-One® power feeder that handles irregular power loads with high flexibility and reliability, thanks to the control capabilities provided by power semiconductor devices. Q-One® replaces traditional furnace transformers and does not require any compensation systems, like SVC. It reduces EAF overall electric power consumption with a shorter power-on time and close-to-zero generation of reactive power.
Q-One® is natively ready for direct feeding of energy coming from renewable sources generated on site.
Continuous charge
Digimelter foresees the use of “zerobucket” continuous charging for efficient, stable melting, reducing energy consumption and minimizing the environmental footprint. This applies to both scrap or DRI charge through the ECS and Hytemp systems.
The eco-pro airtight design is conceived to reduce pollutants to the minimum. Compared to a conventional EAF with the same charge mix, Digimelter® Eco-Pro reduces the CO2 direct emissions (Scope 1) by more than 50% and overall CO2 emissions by 25%.
Q-Melt process control suite
Q-Melt™ makes it possible to operate the EAF always with most optimized process under any operating conditions and in fully automatic mode. The core of the Q-Melt™ automatic furnace is the Melt-Model. It interacts continuously with the Q-One® electrical control and the Danieli chemical injection systems to control operating conditions. By processing the operating profiles, Melt-Model makes the necessary process adjustments, dynamically and automatically, according to the best possible practice.
Many customers worldwide have relied on the patented Digimelter, and 223 Q-One modules for EAFs and LFs have been ordered from Danieli, also for furnace upgrading.
