Danieli overall energy-source management system dynamically handles energy sources in plants, including the energy generated in-house from renewable sources, for a least-cost production by promoting “energy-aware” production scheduling, and enabling proactive negotiation with the grid energy supplier, also maximizing the usage of the auto-produced renewable energy.

Q-Jenius

Based on the most modern power electronics, Danieli-patented Q-Jenius enables controlled routing of “green” energies produced in-house, and their direct and efficient usage for the main plant’s electrical loads, like EAF, LF and induction heating, reducing the amount of energy acquired from the power grid.

Q3-DEMS

Q3-DEMS automatically exploits available energy storage systems, recharging them whenever convenient and dynamically using the accumulated energy for best load management (“peak shaving” and other energy-cost optimization strategies). Thanks to accurate tracking of the mix of energies used (auto-produced “green” energy vs. power grid portion), Q3-DEMS also generates “carbon footprint” reports, quantifying and certifying the reduced CO2 emission for the steel produced.

Q-Drive

Danieli-designed Q-Drive power systems are based on medium-voltage inverters for energy consumption optimization of main rolling mill, shredder and auxiliary plant main motors.

Q-Water

The installation of the Q-Water proprietary package consisting of software, inverters and instrumentation, improves water usage and reduces power consumption in rolling mill water-treatment plants. In fact, the smart integration between the automation of the rolling mill and the water-treatment plant developed by Danieli makes it possible to supply cooling water only when the process requires it, saving energy otherwise wasted by running power pumps and cooling towers continuously.
