The ArcelorMittal Saldanha Works was commissioned in late 1998 and currently produces 1.2 million tons of Hot Rolled Coil (HRC). Recently, Danieli Automation performed the switchover from the obsolete control system (Siemens Simadyn) to the new HiPAC controller for Roughing Mill Stand N.1. The HiPAC was seamlessly integrated into the existing automation system during normal production, without any dedicated shutdown time.

Joint-Stock Company Rusal Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Smelter in Russia has ordered a new billet and slab homogenizing furnace from Danieli Olivotto Ferrè. The scope of work includes engineering, equipment supply, delivery and supervision of the erection and commissioning. The new furnace, which will be installed in the Krasnoyarsk plant, is designed for homogenizing of slabs and billets of all aluminium alloys in series 1 to 9.

HiProfile allows the complete in-line dimensional control and surface defect inspection of bars and sections during rolling. An 8-laser heads HiProfile PR88300 gauge, performing accurate profile measurement of large beams and channels up to 600 mm, was recently installed and commissioned at Tokyo Steel plant, Utsunomiya Works, Japan.

Hoa Phat Steel relies on Danieli to enter in the HRC sector, selecting Danieli QSP technology to be installed at Dung Quat, in Vietnam. The plant will initially produce 3.5 Mtpy of HRC with strip thicknesses ranging from 1.5 to 12.0 mm and widths from 900 to 1,500 mm. The design foresees expanding production to 4.0 Mtpy by adding two segments to the slab caster and a downcoiler (Phase II).

KMD Precision Copper Strip (Henan) contracted Danieli for the turnkey supply of four finishing lines to process copper strip. The release of the Final Acceptance Certificate for the recoiling and the slitting lines marked the official start of industrial production at the new complex near Shanghai, China.
