Utva Silosi AD Kovin selects Danieli for new ERW tube line in Serbia

Utva Silosi AD Kovin, a leading producer of electric-resistance welded (ERW) tubes, has selected Danieli to supply a new ERW tube production line to be installed at its site in Serbia.

The new ERW mill by Danieli Centro Tube will produce tubes with outside diameters of up to 50 mm and maximum thickness of 3 mm. The production range will include structural tubes and high-precision products suitable for automotive applications.

The line will operate at speeds exceeding 160 m/min and will be equipped with state-of-the-art automation systems, ensuring high productivity and consistent product quality.

It will feature continuous coil unwinding with a double-mandrel decoiler and strip joining for uninterrupted operation. Tube welding will be performed using a latest-generation high-frequency welder and a dedicated welding stand. Downstream operations will include sizing stands and Turks-head-type shaping and straightening units, enabling the production of square, rectangular, and round sections.

The line will be completed by an in-line NDT system, a high-performance flying saw ensuring excellent cut quality, and a lance-type bundling system followed by an automatic strapping unit.

The plant is currently in the design phase and is scheduled to start operations in the first half of 2027.

With this investment, Utva Silosi AD Kovin will enhance its product portfolio, relying on Danieli’s proven technology to deliver high-quality tubes for demanding applications.
