Rolling mill expansion and modernization at Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel

Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel awarded two contracts to Danieli for new long-product rolling projects at its Kinh Mon Steel Complex in Vietnam. The first contract concerns a new wirerod rolling line, and the second involves a new, six-pass finishing block for bar and wirerod products. Previously, Danieli installed four long-product rolling mills at the same location.

The first project calls for a new wirerod rolling line to be installed downstream Danieli rolling mill #1, supplied in 2007. It will produce reinforced steel wire, 8 to 14 mm diameter; and smooth wire from 5.5 to 16 mm diameter for low- to medium-carbon steel, and PC bar.

The new WRM’s finishing area will maximize flexibility of coil characteristics, in terms of number of ties and coil weight. A Sund Birsta compactor will be provided and guarantee the best compacting process for perfectly shaped and bound coils.

The second project, a six-pass fast-finishing block, will be installed in a new lateral line of the Danieli bar and wirerod mill supplied in 2011. This solution splits rolling mills #3 and #4 into two independent mills, which will increase the production capacity for the steel complex.

Danieli Automation will supply power and control systems for the complete line, including the latest AC drives arranged in a regenerative common DC bus solution. L1 equipment control for the whole process will ensure high-quality and user-friendly performance.
