Guidance and training in schools

Danieli and SKF, world-leading companies in their respective fields, have engaged in a long-standing journey of technical, educational and commercial cooperation on specific issues with the aim of combining their individual strengths in order to develop innovative solutions and processes in the metal sector.

Within this framework, they share the inspiring experience of INTE.S.A. project, a program followed by Danieli since the nineties with the aim of supporting and fostering a school training conception in conjunction with the company.

On the 24th of January 2019, the two companies organized an orientation and educational seminar on “Mechanical System Monitoring” at the Technical and Industrial Institute “Arturo Malignani” in Udine. The subject, shared with but also inspired by the Institute, raised a great deal of interest thanks to the school’s own, internal projects.

164 students and many teachers of mechatronics, electronics and electrical engineering took part in this project. Also thanks to practical demonstrations on the use of sensors and data gathering, it was pointed out that, in a modern and challenging setting like the current one, every company has the aim of reducing costs while maintaining a high utilization factor and reliability of the plant.

This is the reason why maintenance management systems, assisted and integrated by digital platforms, modern sensors and software, move from a reactive maintenance approach to a predictive one, thus contributing to cost reduction. In this framework, such approach was proved successful only thanks to the integration of the various parts involved, and it was highlighted how both the school, responsible for education, and the students, with their innovation and creativity, can actively contribute to such development in the industrial field.
