Danieli’s QSP-DUE® technology sets new industrial milestones at SGJT
More than 10 million tons of steel produced and ultra-thin HRC down to 0.7 mm
Danieli’s QSP-DUE® (Danieli Universal Endless) technology has reached new industrial milestones at Shougang Jingtang United Iron & Steel (SGJT), China, further confirming its status as the world’s most advanced direct casting-and-rolling process for flat products.
Since start-up, the QSP-DUE® plant at SGJT has produced more than 10 million tons of hot-rolled steel, demonstrating long-term operational stability, high productivity, and consistent product quality under full industrial conditions.
A further key achievement is the production of more than 420 ton of hot-rolled coils within a single roll campaign at thicknesses equal to or below 0.8 mm — down to 0.7 mm — entirely in full endless mode. Reaching such production volumes at ultra-thin gauges represents a major technological validation of Danieli’s casting-and-rolling concept, traditionally considered one of the most demanding frontiers in flat steel production.
Thanks to the QSP-DUE® process — integrating thin-slab casting, complete thermal equalization and continuous rolling — SGJT has successfully industrialized ultra-thin hot-strip production, achieving a high ratio of stable endless rolling conditions, tight dimensional tolerances, and excellent surface quality.
What distinguishes QSP-DUE® is its unique “universal” rolling concept, enabling seamless operation in endless, semi-endless, and coil-to-coil modes within a single plant. Compared to previous generations of thin-slab casting-and-rolling technologies, this represents a major step forward, ensuring unmatched operational flexibility.
The steady ramp-up of thin-gauge production at SGJT confirms the capability of QSP-DUE® to deliver repeatable, high-volume industrial performance, well beyond isolated records.
These results further consolidate QSP-DUE® as a benchmark solution for steelmakers aiming to expand ultra-thin HRC portfolios, reduce downstream processing through cold-rolling substitution, improve material yield, and lower energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.
The SGJT plant is one of several QSP‑DUE installations currently in operation or under execution worldwide, contributing to a continuously expanding reference base.
