Wieland selects Danieli for major copper rolling mill upgrade in the USA

Wieland has selected Danieli to supply a new 2-high hot rolling mill and 4-high cold rolling mill for its US East Alton plant, as part of the company’s $500 million investment program to enhance production capabilities.

The new lines will replace equipment dating back to the 1960s and support the production of copper and copper-alloy rolled products for a broad range of industries, including defense, automotive, and energy infrastructure.

Furthermore, the hot rolling mill supply will include an accelerated cooling system jointly developed by Danieli Fata Fröhling and the Danieli Research Center. The system will cool the rolled strip much faster in a shorter length than previously designed mills, improving material properties and handling capability.

Danieli is currently completing the mechanical and electrical equipment manufacturing for the hot rolling mill.
