Jairaj Group achieves record performances with Danieli MIDA QLP

Longest uninterrupted sequence confirms reliability and industrial maturity of MIDA QLP technology

Jairaj Group has achieved record operational performances at its Kurnool plant in India, where the Danieli-supplied MIDA QLP line has overtaken nameplate design parameters.

This installation represents the first MIDA plant in India. The plant configuration includes a blast furnace in the melting area, with Danieli having supplied the ladle furnace as well as the casting and rolling technology, featuring Direct Rolling and a bundling finishing facility.

The MIDA line is designed for a yearly capacity of 350,000 tons of rebar in bundles, covering diameters from 8 to 40 mm. Full-stream production started in May 2025, with a learning curve showing steady and consistent improvement in operational stability and productivity.

A major milestone was reached in January 2026, when the plant successfully completed a 27-hour, uninterrupted casting and rolling sequence, operating with a single tundish and 33 heats cast and rolled in endless mode. During the sequence, a billet of 10,206-m length was produced, with a maximum casting speed of 7.2 m/min, exceeding the original design performances.

These results further demonstrate that Danieli MIDA QLP technology has reached a high level of experience and reliability, enabling even first-time installations in new markets to achieve rapid and remarkable learning curves.
