Another Danieli SBQ mill in India

Ramsarup Industries Ltd. (a 100% wholly owned subsidiary of Shyam Metallics & Energy Ltd.) has selected Danieli to supply a new Special Bar Quality (SBQ) Combination Mill, to be installed at Kharagpur Works, West Bengal, India.

The new mill integrates the latest Danieli Morgårdshammar SBQ technology and will have a production capacity of 600,000 tons per year of finished long products.

It will process special steel smooth and deformed rounds in coil form, in diameters ranging from 5,5 to 25 mm, at maximum rolling speeds of up to 110 m/s for the relevant sizes and also Bar-in-Coil from 16 to 45mm.

In addition, the mill will roll commercial grade bars in straight lengths from 8 to 40 mm diameter, at speeds up to 45 m/s, ensuring product flexibility and consistent high quality.

Operations will be managed through Danieli Automation advanced process control systems, designed to ensure safe, intuitive and reliable plant operation.

This new supply marks the ninth SBQ reference in India for Danieli, following successful collaborations with Tata Steel Long Products, JSW BSPL, Vardhman Special Steel, Mukand Ltd., Mukand SUMI Special Steel, Jayaswal NECO Industries, and Mittal Corp Ltd. (now Shyam Metallics & Energy Ltd.).

The supply will include engineering, technological equipment, and advisory services.

Plant startup is scheduled for early 2027.
