Wirerod technology: Danieli HSS High-Speed Shear to improve coil quality at up to 130 m/s.

Automatic wirerod head and tail cropping at speeds up to 130 m/s is possible thanks to the application of the patented Danieli HSS High-Speed Shear.

It is the most advanced solution available for improving coil quality, and reducing transformation costs.

The unique design permits trimming and chopping to be performed by blades mounted on a single blade holder, through a single driving group, while the control system allows repeatable trimming of the out-of-tolerance or uncooled head and tail portions of the rolled stock.

Danieli will supply Societé Aciers Armature Pour Beton, Neuves Maisons plant, France, with a new high-speed shear for automatic head and tail cropping of 5.0 to 20 mm wirerod.

The supplied package includes servo-assisted “Active Pinch Rolls” to be installed in front of the high-speed shear to control the speed and eliminate vibrations, allowing the shear to achieve the best cut.

An upgrade to the existing rolling mill control system carried out by Danieli Automation will guarantee constant rolling speed and better size accuracy on final products, with a limited investment.
