First billet successfully cast at Deacero Ramos Arizpe

Deacero has successfully cast the first billet at its new minimill in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, marking a key milestone in the startup of the Danieli-supplied plant. The achievement further strengthens the long-standing collaboration between Deacero and Danieli, and further confirms Danieli’s already-established presence in the Mexican long-products market.

The startup was enabled by a plant layout that allows the continuous caster complex to operate using the existing electric arc furnace (EAF) of Steelmaking Plant No. 1 while commissioning activities continue on the new EAF of Steelmaking Plant No. 2. This approach supports the progressive startup of the new minimill and reduces commissioning constraints.

The successful casting of the first billet confirms the plant’s readiness for the next commissioning phase. In the coming weeks activities will continue, in close collaboration with the customer, with the startup of beam-blank production, a further milestone toward the production of large structural sections.
