The purpose of Edge Heating (EH) is to compensate the natural temperature loss at the edges of the transfer bar before it enters the finishing mill.
The method consists in using an AC magnetic flux in transvers configuration to induce eddy currents in the bar edge that produce the desired heating effect.
The edge temperature rise ∆T is controlled by the coil current intensity according to the transfer bar thickness and during the transfer in real time according to the speed of the bar. The heating effect is immediate without time delay
