The Private Primary School “Danieli”- English Tech Plus Educational Path – intended for the children of the Danieli Company’s employees and open to the children of the local community as well, will soon start its activity.

The Danieli Group, headquartered at Buttrio (UD), and the Diocesan College Pio X of Treviso signed an agreement for opening a detached section of the College within the company’s premises at the start of the new school year. "English Tech Plus": a school with both Italian and English native speaker teachers, and with specialists of the Technological/Computer Science area offering youth the competence and emotion of making small robots. This educational path, for which students will be enrolled in the Diocesan College Pio X, is a synthesis of high level experiences already acquired in the primary schools of the College which also provides the director of education and the teachers, up to the formation of an autonomous teaching body. A leading-edge school is so created at Buttrio, combining Italian tradition and an innovative approach to the English language and the new technologies through an active and laboratory-based teaching method: a school which has been wanted, supported and promoted by Gianpietro Benedetti, chairman of the Danieli Group.

With the creation of this school a forward-looking connection and synergy has been established between two institutions of excellence in their respective fields. Within the premises of Danieli, an industrial group with a turnover of more than 2.7 billion euro and worldwide leader in the production of steel-making plants, there are already a crèche and a nursery school, to which it has been now added the Private Primary School English Tech Plus, which is the very best of the Italian education landscape. The diocesan college Pio X, with its 96 years’ history in the education of young people, although remaining faithful to its Christian inspiration, is open to all those who share and respect its nature. As demonstrated by its recent partnerships with other leading companies, it is a school which is capable to adapt itself to the times and to the various educational and training problems, as well as to create a connection between the world of school and business.

HOW IT WORKS. Each group-class will be guided by a pedagogic team composed of the main teacher for the Italian core syllabus, by a native-speaker specialist teacher for the English language and CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) areas, in which the English language is used as a learning vehicle for the curricular disciplines (Sciences, Technology, Computer Science, Geography and Art), as well as by a specialist teacher in the Technological/Computer Science areas. The Educational Coordinator of the College will play the role of supervisor. “In addition to a thorough study of the English language as a vehicle towards further knowledge”, stated Mons. Lucio Bonomo, Dean of the Pio X College, “this type of education requires a considerable investment of time and resources in the field of the new IT technologies, in order to enhance the mathematical and scientific skills. The pupils start utilising programming tools right from the first year, thus acquiring the necessary skills to make animations and small robots, but above all, through play, they can strengthen their problem-solving and team cooperation abilities. Both the activities in the digital field and the good command of English are certified by international institutions present with identical standards worldwide”.
