Pickling-line upgrade at Lusosider Aços Planos

New Danieli mandrel is in service at the picking line #2 of Lusosider Aços Planos –CSN Group– at Aldeia de Paio Pires, Portugal.

The equipment, supplied along with on-site advisory services for erection and commissioning, consisted of a new, tailor-made pay-off reel mandrel and an outboard bearing installed after an area adaptation, to contrast the deflection of the mandrel under coil load and strip tension.

Complete with main gears and bearings, and equipped with three additional sets of adapters to cover all the internal diameters of the coils, the mandrel is capable of a wide expansion range, going from 570 to 660 mm (fully collapsed, to fully expanded).

Tests conducted during the commissioning phase showed a precise integration with the pickling line and robust behavior of the supplied equipment.
