Henan Jiyuan Iron & Steel awards Danieli for new Jumbo Rounds caster in China

Henan Jiyuan Iron & Steel Co. Ltd. has awarded Danieli a contract for the design and supply of a new bow-type continuous casting machine to be installed at Jiyuan plant, Henan province, China.

The project follows previous successful installations and further strengthens the long-standing collaboration between the two companies in jumbo rounds casting solutions.

Danieli’s scope of supply will include the core equipment of the new CCM, along with the related electrical and automation systems. The machine will feature an 18.5-meter radius and four strands, ensuring high productivity and operational reliability.

The design is based on an established configuration already implemented at the Jiyuan works. In 2023, Danieli supplied a two-strand CCM at the same site with similar round-size capability, achieving positive commissioning results and product quality. The new installation will adopt an upgraded copy-plant concept, enhanced with two additional strands.

The new caster will produce round blooms ranging from Ø600 mm to Ø1300 mm, primarily in alloy steel grades destined for the energy and marine sectors, meeting the increasing demand for high-quality products in the local market.

Start-up of the new caster is scheduled for 2027.
