Maanshan Iron & Steel orders new Danieli continuous caster

Maanshan Iron & Steel has awarded Danieli a contract to supply a new continuous casting machine to be installed Maanshan in Anhui province (China). The project represents a further milestone in the long-standing cooperation between the two companies, which began in 2000 and has developed through multiple continuous casting projects over the past 25 years.

Danieli’s scope of supply includes a new billet continuous caster designed to produce high-quality rounds ranging from Ø150 to Ø380 mm. Production will cover a wide range of high-value-added special steels, including alloyed grades for premium seamless tube production. 

The caster will be equipped with Danieli Automation Level 1 and Level 2 systems, including the Danieli Liquid Pool Control (LPC) solidification model. The automation package will provide dynamic secondary-cooling water control, dynamic load distribution, and electromagnetic mould stirring, strand and final stirring control, ensuring stable casting conditions and consistent product quality.

Key components will be manufacturing, assembled and tested in Danieli’s facilities in China. 

The long-standing cooperation between Danieli and the customer has already included continuous casters for virtually the entire long-product portfolio, covering the full range of round billets, small square billets, large square billets, large-diameter round billets, and large special-shaped billets.
