Energiron direct reduction process

a unique, gas-based process that converts iron oxide pellets, lump ore, or pellet/lump ore mixtures into a highly-metallized and passivated product with controlled carbon content in the form of Fe3C (from 1.5% to 4%). This innovative product is the best metallic unit for the EAF. The carbon content in the pellets is fully recoverable in the melting
process, making it a very efficient source of chemical energy. The production capacity of these technologically advanced plants is up to 2 Mtpy per module.

1
Cash-cost reduction in EAF steelmaking

Increased efficiency through technological packages such as: Danarc Module technology; scrap continuous charging system; HiReg Plus electrode regulation and foaming-slag control system; Fuzzy Logic automation; and oxygen and carbon injection systems. All these are applicable to new and existing furnaces. Reference best FastArc™ performance: 45 heats/day, energy consumption 320 kWh/t, oxygen consumption 38 Nm3/t.

Twin-Cathode DC EAF fed with 100% hot and cold DRI

Specially developed for efficient DRI melting, it overcomes the limits of power input in the EAF and reduces graphite electrode
consumption, as compared with AC and single-cathode DC furnaces. The disturbances on the power supply network are minimized thanks to the double-arc effect produced by the TC arrangement.
Reference performance: active power above 160 MW, tap-to-tap time 45 min, energy consumption < 450 kWh/t, oxygen consumption < 40 Nm3/t.

Secondary metallurgy

Secondary metallurgy units for heat sizes from 20 to 350 t provide optimized meltshop sequences, reduce costs, and ensure the highest quality standard even with the most complicated steel grades. Ladle furnaces feature inert roof with controlled atmosphere and swing-roof for two treatment positions. VD/VOD degassing systems -in single or twin-tank configuration- feature combined steam ejector / water ring or full-steam ejector pumps.
Oxygen lances are provided for deep decarburization of ULC and stainless steels, with reduced metal losses.

Ecogravel®

Ecogravel stems from the best technology available and the most advanced know-how on the market, to transform the EAF slag -a waste product- into an industrial aggregate with exceptional characteristics that finds its ideal use in bituminous conglomerates, cement mixes, and concrete for applications with particularly demanding requirements, thus optimizing environmental impact and economical results.
